The Life Remote

The Life Remote

I was reading my journalism textbook today, and I came across a section that discussed the evolution of television and the creation of the remote. The book talked about how the remote made watching TV a lot easier because people didn’t have to get off their ass to change the channel. They could “channel surf” much more easily.

This whole remote thing got me thinking. What if there was a life a remote, a channel changer that let you control the stations and volume of your everyday life?

Think about it. You’re in a boring lecture, in a fight with a girlfriend or boyfrined, in a meeting that you really don’t want to be at, and you just change the channel, switch to something better or more satisfying. You go from that boring lecture to hanging out with your compadres, or reading your favorite book while snuggled up under a blanket. Maybe someone’s talking to you about something you could give two shits about. No worries, just use your life remote to turn the volume all the way down.

A life remote could solve all your problems. Make all your worries and woes disappear.

Of course, I could be wrong. Yes, a life remote would let you surf the channels of your life. But, maybe it’s impossible to avoid every bad, crappy, or distressing situation. Maybe life is just, well, life. Maybe it’s going to suck a little bit no matter what.

Still, it would be pretty freakin cool to have a life remote. What do you think? Would you like a remote that let you skip seamlessly between the stations of your life? Would you like to be able to adjust the volume of everyone around you? Give me your thoughts! Pretty please.End Kwote
