End Kwote

After it's all said and done, life's just a bunch of kwotes

Today, I stand tall.

I stand tall at the edge of a taller building with even taller ambitions and even taller consequences. The side of the brick presses into the arch of my foot, creasing that soft skin, begging to push up through my legs, into my ribs, through my chest, and into my head. I look down, but down isn’t down anymore. It can’t be. It just can’t.

So, I look up.

Up towards the concrete sidewalk and street. Up towards the cars. Up towards the people beneath.

If you’re shaking your head right now saying to yourself, “That makes absolutely no sense,” then you understand. That in itself is nonsensical, but let me tell you what it means;

Life is spent doing nothing but fighting the gravity.

When you’re standing on the edge of a building with the side of the brick pressed into the soft spots on your feet, which you most certainly will at one point or another, realize that looking down, down towards the concrete sidewalk and street, down towards the cars, down towards the people beneath, won’t do you a damn bit of good. Looking down, down to where you would shatter like glass, down to where there’s nothing new, is pointless.

Down isn’t down anymore. It just can’t be. It just can’t.

Look up when there is only underneath. Look up when that touch begs to push through your legs, into your ribs, through your chest, and into your head. Look up when the weight of the world is pushing down on your neck.

Life is spent doing nothing but fighting the gravity.

So fight it.
